My Favorite Movies:

Who am I?

About me:
I'm a DVD fan, just like most people here. I don't own a Blu-ray or HD-DVD player yet, and I probably won't, for now. Maybe I'll get one in a few years.

My Gear:
7.1 surround system, with DD-EX and DTS-ES outputs able to transform 5.1 and 6.1 soundtracks into juicey 7.1! The method is simple: in 5.1, the rear channels are split into "in-phase" (sounds that sound like they're coming directly from the speakers) and "out-of-phase" (sounds that sound "disperse" and difficult to localize). The "in-phase" sounds are heard through the rear speakers, while the "out-of-phase" sounds are coming from the middle ones. Or is it the other way around? I can't remember. Anyway, as for 6.1, the "middle center" speaker is "duplicated" in the two rear speakers, while the middle ones produce the "rear" sounds in an ordinary 5.1 speaker system. My reference discs for this effect are "The Matrix" (the bullets really feel like they swirl around you) and "Seven: New Line Platinum Series" (amazing. Just amazing).

Can't wait for discrete 7.1 soundtracks! Mark my words: DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 will ROCK! And so will PCM 7.1 (already available in "Ghost in the Shell: Innocence")! Oh, this means we'll have to buy our favorite movies for one more time... damn.
